The crew boards The New Republican, a Correllian Corvette currently stationed in the middle of nowhere space. They are greeted by Commander Oo’ther Blump, a Gotal with a gruff voice, who informs them that the war isn’t over despite what they might have thought. Countless worlds are still under Imperial control and oblivious to the Alliance’s victory at Endor. He goes on to introduce everyone to their new field Sergeant, an Aqualish named Sarge. It’ll be Sarge’s job to whip the crew into shape; Commander Blump has read Major Cora Quar’ko’s reports, and he’s not impressed by how they operate, or by Dundalk’s flippant retorts. Both Blump and Sarge are impressed by Algae’s zeal, however.
Nonetheless, he’s got a mission for the crew: go to Clak’dor VII, home of the Biths, and infiltrate an Imperial Propaganda Holonet News Station that broadcasts to the entire sector. Blump hands a datadisk to Sarge that contains a New Republic newsreel, and which they must slice into the system and broadcast on the Holonet. But first they’ll have to get through the Imperial Blockade on the planet, so Blump provides some time-sensitive codes to do so. When they’re dismissed, Commander Blump tells Sarge that if he screws up, the Aqualish will be put behind a desk for good.
The crew is also given a YT-1300, which used to be called The And Also With You, but they rename it Senator Stubbs, in Bother’s honor. Wanting an astromech, Algae decides to steal one on the Corvette, but only finds a Mouse Droid. And he’s unable to re-program it into an astrogation capable droid. Aniro’s astrogation calculations get them there rather late, and a massive traffic jam has accumulated in Clak’dor VII’s orbit.
Algae slices into the planetary network and forges new priority codes for the ship, but the ISB notices the forgery, and boards the ship. An ISB officer with four Stormtroopers grills the crew for answers until he notices Ke’chik and becomes intrigued. His bio-scans indicate that it is a new species, so he informs them that he’ll be taking Ke’chik for testing and observation. That’s when Sarge draws his blaster and a firefight ensues.
The crew makes quick work of the officer, but the Stormtroopers prove to be resilient. Algae finds an emergency lever to release the airlock from the boarding tube, and the ship lurches away from the Imperial freighter. But the monkey-lizard is unable to avoid careening into the line of traffic, causing light damage to The Senator. After sustaining a wound (which Aniro promptly heals), the last of the Stormtroopers are defeated, but now the crew will have to figure out their next course of action…
